Listening to the mild rattle
Of the raindrops
Hitting the leaves
Hitting the aluminium shed
Nothing else could be heared
Just the tiny beats
Yet roaring aloud
In this silent night.

I can hear the odd vehicles passing
Splashing the water
As they go, carefree
Of the turbulence they caused
In the mild melody
Getting busy again
In their famed life
Forgetting this silent night.

I can hear a bird's voice
Somewhere along the distance
Maybe a lonely nightingale singing
Maybe a baby sparrow calling
Wating for her mother's return
Adding to the emotion
Adding to the serenity
Of this silent night.

I can hear the train's siren
Echoing far far away
Always carrying a message for me
Always carrying the same hope
I hear its footsteps
In a hope for your return
Knowing that I will be left alone.
In this silent night.
