In the eastern sky
the city glows orange
a decorous match
to the lamps in my street.
Night tears silver the leaves
and the rose blooms
though no one sees
when the half moon
at midnight fills the garden
with the silhouettes of strangers.

Love the contrast

The mysterious glow of the nearby city

Makes the dark in the garden

Much more potent.
