Sleep, dear Heart
And dream in wonder—
Full of Beautiful things.
Release your Self from
Worry’s Cage and the
Past’s stage and fall
Into a new Age of Ecstasy
And Madness—

Those twins of Freedom
That lie beyond the
Horizons of Reality . . .
Their whispered pleasures
Taunt, tease, and weave a trance
In which a rhythmic web
Cocoons the mind
Within silken ropes of steel

That carry the weight
Of a single soul
And its infinite details
Whorling round and round
In the streams of Blinding Consciousness that
Never permit a moment of
Silent reflection

To be alone
Outside the zone
Of your Love’s Eternal breath . . .
Oh where oh where is Death?
When I need Him to finish off
The pulse that still lies within my breast . . .
