Slow Fire
I met you
and I felt a spark of recognition,
of attraction,
as we talked for such a long time.
Our friendship grew so slowly
as we met in the street and talked
of anything
and nothing
until I knew I couldn't live without you.
A fire had been lit in our souls,
a yearning of desire,
slowly building from that spark
until the fire blazed hot
and forged us
into one,
melding us,
fusing us,
the heat of our love
and our bodies
building white-hot.
We intertwine ourselves,
sliding our hot, fiery, molten bodies
along each other
until we are one.
What a beautiful creation
from a small beginning!
