As I lie in bed,
     trying not to think,
I smile when I hear you breathe.

I turn my head slowly,
     gazing on your form,
          lying beneath our sheets.

The same sheets that hold,
     all our warmth near.
          I gently kiss your cheek.

In slumber you turn,
     your face to mine,
          and smile so angel sweet.

I place my hand,
     on your back smooth,
and whisper my love so deep.

Your smile remains,
     and in sleep you sigh,
          covered by warm sweats sheen.

Slowly my hand,
     climbs to your curls,
          and gently begins to preen.

I lean close to you,
     breathing you in,
          you are all I see.

I kiss you tenderly,
     closing my eyes,
          we have always been,

together here,
     this moment this time.
          Awake you start to grin.

"You wake me so sweet,
     my lover true.
Let us while away the eve,

in each others arms,
     like our first night,
          neath the bright moon's gleam."

Entwining our hands,
     together awake,
o're our heads we pull the sheet,

blood rushing through,
      our hearts so fast,
as with our love we meet.
