Her mind was sleeping
     As she opens her eyes
A thousand lyrics written in blood
Soaked through old parchment into the earth

Starry-eyed loners walked the planet
Within a blanket of lost wisdom
Holding only a tea bag and a manuscript
Lost in the danger of oncoming thought-traffic

Increased talent in solitaire
     Staring through the cracked windows
Sewing her thoughts without understanding
Why she had never dared to dream

Natural numbness unlike not anesthesia
Dulls the senses needed to live
She hungered for a love like oxygen
Starved of affection in corruption she sank

Ice crept closer around her casket
     Self-made mold of titanium air
Frozen corpse of wax and shackles
Eyes of wood and heart of glass

He came to her as an aspiration
Never a love would she meet as this
One who cared and dared and dreamt
How his voice inflamed her so

She dreamt of him for years of life
They passed her by in heartbreaking loss
The day she left this tragic existence
In final rest would she sense love at last

How desolate is the title...

yet how plentiful is the work you penned here. Phrases that I dwelled over were, "Sewing her thoughts without understanding...Why she never dared to dream" and "She hungered for a love like oxygen...Starved of affection in corruption she sank". "Solitaire" proves to have the true Power of One in its delivery. Thank you for sharing this piece with Me here this morning.
