Knelt down before the bed
Hands together at your breast
Curtains opened just a bit
for fresh air
I see you through the window
And hear your softly whispered prayers

You see me- noticing you
Mutual panic stirring the soul
Of our masterpiece
Like bright revealing light
On an ill-prepared subject

Once we both settle down
From our strangely intimate untouched contact
all of life becomes a more coherent flow
Stand and stare with me
With complete acceptance
Of the way your beauty glows.

Alas, its true
The sun has no choice but to rise
And you know
I’ve meant no deceit upon your wishes
Forgive me if I now seem distant
It’s part of the overwhelming contrast
Inherent to the star
Initially seeming close
Suddenly, nothing as far

The purpose of the heavens
Is not to grant your wishes
But, instead, to distract you
While you find out
How limitless
The world is when you
Realize you are
Just like me;
A star.

No boundaries
Plenty of sweat-soaked magic nights
Playful, coy and fleeting
Simple and sincere
Plain-fully beautiful
And on the last clock tick before sleep
You finally realize
Why the stars gaze
Upon you.
