When sleep won't find me, nor time to break my fast,
I need only you to sustain me,
For you are my dream,
And my deepest hunger is sated,
When I feel your touch at last.
And as I lay awake, I smile at my heartbeat,
Knowing that yours beats the same.
Then in the loneliness of this place,
I can almost feel your hands, your fingers on my face.
It almost takes away this ache as I find my solitary release,
Imagining the passion of your embrace.
You are lover and friend and God to me,
And something words can never touch,
But when you hold me close to you,
Together again at last,
Our tenderness says enough.
