Summer Solstice 2011

Our eyes met, transfixed
She had dark, frightened
Doe’s eyes.

Tired of my gaze, she
Dropped her head,
Demurely,
Walking away.

I watched her, for a while
Climbing the side of the hill.
Finding her babies in the
Thicket, they moved off

The sign has been given,
Light the bon fires,
Solstice blessings.
