I've been waiting
Waiting for our moment
I've watched the movie
Glued to every minute
Through the cheesy montages
The lonely, thoughtful scenes
The witty banter
My goth, depressing hours
Our simmering sexual tension
Our comfortable, laughing friendship
Your sometimes closed off coldness
My sometimes agonizing emptiness
I've been waiting for our sweeping, gathering moment
The moment on top of the Empire State Building
Where an audience of one dabs her eyes
With a hankie
The moment in the pounding surf
The dramatic embrace of your arms
and the kiss that draws gasps
The moment you tell me you've loved me always
The moment you tell me how foolish I've been to doubt
The moment you tell me how you've spent
So many nights
Waiting for this moment
Just like me
Give me my craptacular Julia Roberts Jennifer Aniston Jennifer Lopez Meg Ryan Tom Hanks Ben Affleck Matthew McConaughey John Cusack Ione Skye Jim and Pam shallow moment of fleeting euphoria
I'll linger on your lips
Until the audience of one
Gives a standing ovation
I promise to let you go, as the closing credits roll
And our eclectic soundtrack
Plays us out
Into darkness
