Why does love have to be so hard
Why must a heart be continually be on guard
Why do they break so easy
Is it because I give mine away too easily
Maybe they give up trying to please me
Or does my heart just like to tease me
Someone please tell me
Are the answers there that I just can’t see
Someone please tell me
What is it I’m missing
Can my vision be so clouded
Keeping their hearts constantly shrouded
Or is the way I feel really the reflection
Of the way I truly treat them
If I could only shed my fears
As easily as I’ve shed my tears
You’d think I’d have learned
After all these years
Not to give out my heart
To the first that comes near
How can one love without a heart
