Drove 1300 miles for awkward and little silence. Pulled my car sideways into old issues that have nothing to do with me. Held a smiling baby for a day and a half. Listened to stories of exorbitant bail money and smelled the musk of a private attraction that's not appropriate for adults or children. Old ladies danced and fell, pointed fingers. Talked war but no peace. Bought a basket; won a confederate flag. Someone went fishing. Others went to drown their sorrows in alcohol and pain pills. Hid behind dark sunglasses and ducked their own demons.
