“Something New”

I woke one day in a dream
To an unfamiliar place
Instead of cold familiarity
Sun shown bright upon my face

Wiping my eyes to clear them
Making sure it was really thus
I looked around in grandeur
This dream world to entrust

The greenest grass
The bluest skies
The clearest waters
Made me blink my eyes

Where is this place?
How long can I stay?
Dare I explore?
How will I find my way?

For a moment I was frightened
The unknowing frame of mind
Then the child in me surfaced
Wondering what I would find.

All thoughts of the old world
Left my mind without reserve
I stood and wandered aimless
Something simple and so pure

Each little nuance
I discovered along the way
Took but a moment to look at
Before I tucked it away

Many things I saw
I never took to keep
But left them in their place
Much to my relief

I only picked up things
That brought a smile to my heart
And left behind the burdens
Which tear us all apart

I returned to sit alone
Pockets emptied to my view
And realized I had collected
Beautiful thoughts of something new

excellent

some may argue the rhyme (I liked very much) which showed the amount of effort and time that was put into an excellent write. I enjoyed your poem and liked the style/authors view. thanks for the read (~_~)
