You'll probably never forgive me;
I know you will never forget.
You probably want me to walk out that door,
And never come back through, I'll bet!

I now realize how I've hurt you
And sorry is not an excuse.
All I do know is I need you right now--
Your friendship I don't wanna lose.

But how can I mend it
If you wanna end it--
HOw can I make it all right?

You say "It's too late now"
You can't even wait now.
You slam the door and tell me good bye.

I wish that I knew how to tell you
All that I'm feelin' inside.
How empty it feels without you in my life
But the gulf in between us is wide.

I only can hope that in time
The wounds I created will mend
And someday you'll want me to walk in that door--
That you will let me be your friend.

But how can I mend it
If you wanna end it--
How can I make it all right?

You say "It's too late now"
You can't even wait now.
You slam the door and tell me good bye.

These words that I've written for you
Are comin' straight out of my heart.
Now it's up to you, whatever you do.
Do you wanna make a new start?

I'm down on my knees
Beggin' you please,
Please do not let us fall apart!
