Once upon a time there was a young woman,
heading off to pursue ambitions misunderstood
Woven from the ideals of youthful fantasies
held in a basket of family wishes and friendly expectations
standing the tall figure of maidenhood.

Settling -- a lofty command of shattered lightning glass
half full of purpose to do the right thing,
Say the right thing, feel the right thing,
be the right thing, only to find that sometimes
the things to be are things of dreams
and all we can question of ourselves is enough to make love the 'right thing',
hope the 'right thing', life the 'right thing',

life is collecting it's taxes on the spirit of mankind,
when girls with curls pranced a few steps from the edge of reason
pulling them back from flying into the night of a beautiful milky way,
and heave-ho there we go through each hour as if it was yesterday,
whenever did tomorrow become as simple as today--is a new day.

A young woman, heading off to achieve goals
woven from the heartstrings of lovers and smiles,
pride-filled eyes, calloused hands, and newborn souls
reaching to recover those little moments of magic
tucked with forget-me-not wishes, first footprints, impressionable young heads only to be dusted off by the persistent weavers of the world [yet tragic]
whispering 'pick your next thread'.
