I go to kneel, but
find I cannot remain
before the banks of
candles with dry eyes

and an unclenched
throat. Lighting one,
I turn to go, nodding
to the sister at my side

with her stark habit
and barren face, the
turn of her lips echoes
the pain in my step.

for anyone

who has ever loved and lost, you captured their pain.

Here's one of sparse construction that lets the reader draw his own image and develop his own feeling of great sorrow.
