The phone ain't ever ringing. I hear it when I vacuum and in the shower. I saw a program once that explained the phenomenon in a concise and memorable manner. I saw it when I was seven. People do phone sometimes for a place to stay, weed, head, solicitors, the jehovahs. I'm glad to see her sometimes always with a child or a weird old man spreading the word. The phone rings when I am not lonely. I read the jehovah's pamphlets; I'm open to other peoples' beliefs. When I enjoy her company wedged between a half cracked screen door and a four paneled standard middle class tedium door, I keep eye contact, smile, nod and hope she doesn't ask me any questions about my beliefs. She inevitably does and I babble an answer she nor he nor the kid nor I can understand. The phone never interrupts the jehovahs.
