We reached the island after our first
night together -- magicians,
enchanted by the rock, the cliffs
razors against the sea, the sea
hard glass against the land.
The mist was also sea
and we were fish breathing
Earth’s first air.

The maze of stones
made each step we took deliberate,
each word spoken only
after pausing.

We leaned
over the precipice, the wind pushing
back, pulling forward.
a game of falling.

You kissed me then, I remember.
It was a kiss
of boulders and surging waves,
a kiss of Arainn.

Had we tripped or fallen, our journey
would have had a different ending.
Even so we returned wet with clouds,
already knowing the flight of fish,
the drowning of birds,
already seduced by the edge
of world, suspended beyond
ourselves in the maelstrom.

Wild winds blow...

Two lovers experience love as they at the same time contend with nature's elements. Wind and rain - weather's elements only enhance this rendering. Enjoyable!
