Walking through the woods something catches your eye.
A simple beauty in such a harsh surrounding, thriving for unknown reasons.
So you stop to admire, knowing of its perilous journey upward.
The ground around this flower is full of rocks and so little soil.
The area is mostly shaded and the wind whips around just so that you think it is going to break this fragile flower.
Yet she stands… blooming, growing and bending to dance with the wind.
She started out in rough soil, but her roots took hold and grew deep.
Deep into the Earth’s soul from which she gains the best nourishment.
As this meager seed with deep roots, she finally ventured towards the heavens to see if her world was more than that of hard rocks and little soil.
As she rose from the ground she was amazed at the simple beauty that was only breath away this whole time.
She stretches herself up, exploring this new environment.
Her bulb is still closed withholding herself, for she must move slowly and cautiously if she is to continue to survive.
To her delight, she breathes in this new freedom from constriction.
New aromas, sunlight, and wind playfully teasing her.
Nourishment from Mother Earth’s soul and North Wind to play with, she is giddy with delight.
Who knew that though she battles daily with the rock around her, that happiness is only a breath away.
She sighs at the wonders around her and opens to reveal her true beauty.
This beauty that she has kept to herself, the beauty that only others can truly appreciate.
For she sees herself as finally removed her from the hell in which she did not ask for.
Others see her beauty in a way a triumph.
Triumph from the cold hard ground, breaking through to reveal beauty in a place there was little beauty.
Bringing her beauty to the surface making the ground look more inviting than it would have been had she been absent.
You pause for a moment tempted to pluck her and save her from this harsh land, but then think otherwise.
For you have seen her battle and see her current beauty, you feel that you may disrupt this balance.
Instead you visit her and water her offering what nourishment she may need.
For her life is a battle and in that her true beauty abounds.
If you should take her out, her spirit dies because there is no reward for her endurance.
Her battles have been long.
Her spirit not sure how to handle these trials.
In her pain she had to reach deep into Mother Earth, finding that small comfort, that extra strength needed to endure.
After each of these trials she was a little stronger than before, her battles unknown to any around.
She fought and survived to reach up and dance.
To dance as if there were no boundaries.
To play with a light heart, for she had earned it.
For all the battles fought,
For all the pain endured,
She now has her time to dance.

Lovely Imagery

An interesting style, a bit different for me;

But you share a positive outlook,

so I went for the ride to see;

A view much "better" than your "Contemplation"

will look for more to see what you say

beautiful!!

Shadow_Kyss-

this poem is just so beautiful! such a telling tale and love the parallel between the struggle of the flower and the struggle we all face to grow and blossom in our own ways.... and soooo glad the reader didn't pluck the flower!
