Sound of a whinny cracks the air
Hooves thunder across the ground
The Farm Boss stands proud
King of all he surveys

The warm sun beats on his back
Coat ragged from shedding winter layers
The wind slightly chilled
Promise of Spring storms in the air

Mother duck quacks loudly
Brood is presented
Drakes are run off
Mama's gotten defensive

Flowers spring from the earth
Colors like a rainbow
The buzz of a honeybee
As it works hurriedly to each blossom

Tractors fire up
Chainsaws tear winters victims
Cover crops burned away
Soil made ready

Farmers say too short
Kids say too long
Some ready for showers
Others for more flowers

A few take the time
To soak up the sun
Enjoy the weather while here
Spring has indeed come
