lips pursed just so
resting the reeds
on their narrow pucker
peering sidelong at the players
on either side sitting
in a circle of
sixty-six
saxophone playing squirrels

each slung their axe over left lap

opened the sash to admit

coolness and corners of sheet music
emptying shells of thought from higher
