St. Andrews cross
lay on the field
Shattered dreams
die with this shield

A young soldier stops
to raise it high
It's not his flag
and yet he cries

His youthful face
tells not his story
His brother dead
where is the glory

Their God on high
to whom they prayed
sends one man home
the other stays

Yet he won't leave
The battle won
There's still one thing
that must be done

A soldier kneels
with head turned high
beneath St. Andrews Cross

A silent prayer
is offered here
And all will know
the loss
