St. Valentines Day Massacre

The red of passion flows everywhere
On buildings, pages and screens.
Today's the day, tonight's the night.
Tea for two exclusively tonight.

Roses and chocolates are compulsory,
Condoms optional! But available -
We must all be safe tonight.
Tables for one - sorry not tonight,
Who do you think you are anyway?

Couples only zones spring up like weeds.
Lepers do not leave your homes,
Instead you will have to suffer
Endless reruns of romantic comedies
That bear no resemblance to the real world,
Where knife blows to the heart are only
A word away. A glance, a laugh
Can kill you yet again.

Nicely done!

Loved the line "Lepers do not leave your home tonight" and "Where knife blows to the heart are only a word away." These seemed to represent the true feelings of the narrator and his loneliness and bitterness. I liked the sequay line too of endless comedy reruns, but "That bear no resemblance to the real world" seemed out of place, given the power of the other 3 lines.

All in all, however, I really liked it.
