a starry night

3:04 AM:
an apartment parking lot
in a mostly safe neighborhood,
quiet except for
the melodic call of a passing freight train

the invalid artist
takes his exercise:
seeing by distant street-light,
Mozart and international affairs
running through his head
beneath blonde hairs

half the day was spent in bed
he took coffee an hour ago:
once took a mushroom trip
through the painting by Van Gogh

He takes it slow,
back and forth:
there's nowhere to go
except back into the apartment
to make more marker art,
watch T.V.,
or wander the world
of dancing and prancing digital data

Meteors zoom across the sky
as a talking head prophesied,
but it's only of passing interest

He smokes a cigarette
(the first one in days,)
contemplating a far-away girl,
troubles, blessings,
and the intense lava-glow of the fag
