may break my bones
but your words
will forever pierce my soul.
a nursery rhyme
said for all those crying kids.
no one cries,
no one rhymes,
for the lost ones now.
adults to parents
men to husbands,
husbands to lovers.
they all become what we fear the most,
monsters-
hidden under our beds
waiting for the lights to go out,
darkness—
fists and fury
may break my bones in a hurry.
from my blood stained lips,
a single cry of, mercy
whispered in the dark, yet
screamed in the silence of
my nightmare.
this speaks to me like so many of your other ones do as well.
thank you for sharing, you give me courage.
A dark theme and fears explored here in such a way that it's hard to ignore.
Another of those poems that just slice through your soul with no clumsy word formations to hinder your progress through the poem.
