I know I haven’t always,
Been there when you needed me,
And I know you haven’t always,
Been there when I needed you.

Now that we’ve left school,
And moved into the “real” world,
It’s hard to find time for each other,
And texting doesn’t count,

It was so hard adjusting,
After we left school,
From seeing each other everyday
To weeks without being there.

Yet if I really needed you,
I know you’d be here in a heartbeat.

There have been people in my life,
Who tried to take your place.
But no one means as much to me as you do.

I know there have been times,
When I made you cry,
Said really hurtful things I never meant.

And no matter what,
I might say sometimes,
You mean the world to me.

I’ve never meant to hurt you,
And I apologise for all the times I did,
I just hope you realise,
I don’t want to lose you.

I just thought it was time to let you know
Because you’re still my best friend,
And I love you.
