Would strange be truly strange to see
If strange things lived on each and every side
If polka-dot piñatas said “Hello”
Would stranger things give way to status quo

If lemon flavored puppies wagged their snouts
And delicate rhinoceri wore hats
If bandoshelly gertz hogs served us tea
Would we gawk or simply let them be

Tomorrow I did wander here and there
And contemplated much philosophy
If weirdness was so wonderful to find
Then what of things we read of all the time

I read of misery the world around
Of people blown apart and beat to death
Young children who are offered up as things
To politicians, businessmen, and kings

I watched a grieving family just today
Who lost their son defending you and me
His name I should have burned in to my mind
For all the loved ones that he’d left behind

How wonderful the world would be to us
If hunger was as rare as snirklegarfs
If children were allowed to be happy
For all their days into eternity

Nice Read!

I loved the clever way you illustrated your point without it being preachy or mundane.

Deceptive poem. I begins fun and surreal, then ends on a serious note.
