Like an old String of Pearls, I watch helplessly
As my hopes and dreams slowly unfurl
Before my eyes...

The pain in my head and the ache in my heart
Threaten my every waking moment, tearing me apart
Making me cry as I try not to die...

I wish that things were all right, that they were nice
Instead of knowing that the world is as cold as ice
I try in vain to understand why no one will offer a helping hand
To someone in need, why nobody cares
Why all I see are inhuman stares
Boring into my flesh and making me scream...

All I can do now is pick up the pieces, mend the pain
And hope that I can put my string of pearls together again.
