We passed each other,
At the store,
Both of us going,
In and out the same door.

She glided across the threshold,
In her sundress of blue cotton and white swirls,
I stopped in stunned silence,
Basking in her beauty,
This truest form of an older woman,
Not a young girl.

I saw a flash of a smirk,
Turn up on her pretty face,
She wore big sunglasses,
I call the “Jackie O’s”,
Freshly painted nails,
On long fingers,
And sandal clad toes.

A week later,
She still is an image in my mind,
This lady,
Oh so fine.
