Say I handed you a branch,
a tree branch, of course,
and you accepted it. Classically,
this would be an olive branch,
meaning peace, but
what if I handed you instead
a birch branch, peeling white
bark curled off its slender legs?

This is so subtly erotic

it's just beautiful. And the title works perfectly with the poem. Clever and understated approach that makes for powerful writing. I'm going to recommend it on the poetry forum and I hope it gets more reads. :-)
