fine spindly threads of Summer
meticulously woven into creation.
slowing the eternal bloom of life,
burning away torrential rains under
arid days and windless nights.

swift currents freeze the icy slip
of northern course driven like
whales and clouds from crystal blue
sand baking under the fiery grip,
parching desert overhead, Ra flew.

children’s rapture, liquid entrapment
sweet smelling sunshine over the
dog’s day, stretched, slowing beat
in the fervor and lover’s enchantment
tying knots within the blazing heat.
