Guess what?
I matter; I count
And I have worth beyond worth’s sake
You may be richer, smarter
And way more lovely to behold
You may drive fancier cars
Play the piano and sing like a dove
Write poetry that makes mine look like drivel
And travel the world over a thousand times
But I am as good as you!
I am equal to you and your fancy friends
Who sip their wine and turn their noses
Upward as they laugh and scorn my very existence
I am no better than you but I am no worse than you
Or you or any of you!
Now allow me to crawl back into my hole
And cower like the no good
Worthless rat that I am and always will be
Who rants and struts within my mind
Wanting to believe I matter; I count
But who am I kidding?
I am as significant as the snot
That drips from your nose.
