Once pure and untainted is consumed with disease
Seems unfair fate tossed me this battle to fight
There is fear, denial, sadness and self-pity
An upheaval of emotions seep deeper within myself
From those must grow strength and empowerment to survive

Why me? How come? What's next? fills everyday
No one has those answers, I suppose there are none
The fact remains, I am in this place without choice
Life often sends us such trials and tribulations as a test
How does one study for such a thing? I never received that book

The unknown is the worst part, filled with darkness and unclarity
Knowing provides focus and prepares you for the task at hand
The mind and soul will win over the weakened state of the flesh
There is no other option, it's not my time to lose this war
Disease will not define me as a human being, how I survive it will
