I am a phantom.

Dying to feel the sun on my skin,
to watch them live their lives.
But I must hide in the shadows
for what I have become.

I am a concubine.

Like a caged bird I sing for my freedom.
There's never a chance of winning
the games and tricks
of those more powerful then I.

I am twisted.

Burning with hate and fear
consumed by my own passion.
I wait, angry at the world that I shun
for not accepting me.

I am a pawn.

Death quenches my thirst
and saves me from the light.
But darkness keeps me trapped,
a prisoner from my own mortality.

Who am I?
