There is one city.
In the city there was a building.
It was named after a little girl.
Many years ago its front moved
But the building was gone.
Now it stands alone,
Like the girl it’s called after,
In a new place in the city.

*
Look at you Talita!
Standing up all grown
And oh so tall!
You’re watching all your people
Streaming below you
You know,
In some ways you remind me of Alice
After she ate of that cake
But you seem to like the way you stand
So relaxed, arms pointing
over here over there
Are you showing the people where to go
Or is it almost SHLAF SHTUNDE time
like I had to rest two to four?
Perhaps it’s already time to wake up?
I guess no one will catch us napping again
Never mind,
Let’s not go there again.
You do look fine though
couples, nomads and prophets
All push onto you.
But I think I know what you think
Woah! I’m still just a girl
from the north
Who hates to be pushed
all around!

'Perhaps it’s already time to wake up?' Yep.

So tell me...

...why the first thing that came to my mind was the words of St. Paul to a dead Tabitha: "Tabitha, kumi!"? (At least I think that's how it is spelled!)

As you know, I like puzzles...so I'll be figuring out those scrambled words, without aid of Google or anything else...if it kills me! *chuckles*

The filling of blanks by the reader is not a fault; it is more a challenge for the reader. Between the title and the phrase "SHLAF SHTUNDE", the use of Google helps in adding clarity. Quite a few of the better poems can go that route, where more obscure references can tickle the reader's curiosity; it's a more fulfilling experience.

I hear you

Sorry about that. I assume that my memories would have been more transparent had I spent my childhood in Maryland for example. But the most important piece of it is of course, me leaning how to better meet the challenge of not overly describing on one hand, while not becoming inaccessible. I am very open to comments and/or advice on that matter.

A thought provoking piece; thank god for Google to help in filling in the blanks.
