Sitting by the ocean,
watching each wave cascade into the sand.

The salty breeze lightly spraying my face,
I realize our time may have come to an end.

The words I had never thought would pass from your lips,
were uttered, just the other night...

You had always professed your undying love to me,
and yet, with little remorse,
tonight you inform me that I am but a shadow to anothers reflection...

For months, you say,
You have been letting another seek your attentions,
and my goodness you have allowed it to be!

What happened to our dreams? The children, the white picket fence and the home?
Did they somehow fade into a distant land so far away,
you've forgotten how to get back?

Maybe with time I reflect,
this too shall pass...
Becoming a faded memory with edges frayed and torn.
From days pondering and abundant tears.

I lift up my towel and brush the sand from my feet,
wiping away the tears...
I walk to the boardwalk and think...

My heart will mend...
