She's done her crying now
Time to move on
If only things were different
But 'if onlys' do more harm than good

Why dream of what you can't have
All it does is hurt
She know this all too well
Tears on the pillow bear testament

The death of each leaving one more stain
Like little scars on the pillowcase
You'd think she'd know better by now

The one mistake she can't stop making
So much for age bringing wisdom
It seems life has taught her nothing

Hope and optimism trumping knowledge and experience
Until the impossible dreams return
Only to die, crushed and torn
Just another mark on the pillow

To remind her of what could have been
If only things had been different
