There is a tempest raging in my soul,
The skies are dropping rain and bringing grief.
My ship is foundering upon the shoal,
As always I have steered into the reef.

Smooth sailing was the way it started out.
As kindred spirits we passed o'er the sea.
With loving as our goal we had no doubt,
And kept the storms behind us and alee.

The loss of ships is rare, this was my balm.
The winds of fate had swept me far adrift,
And left me yearning for clear skies and calm.
I wrecked this vessel, now I'm left bereft.

The sea returns its treasures oft to shore,
But my true love is lost for ever more.
