While the concrete shook,
And the windows shattered,
These guys stood firm,
To do what mattered.

Bodies thrown in harms fell way,
Knowing fully the price they pay,
Many walked under deaths pale wing,
Measure courage in each burnt tears sting.

Grimly striding where terror stalks,
yet unbowed the hero walks.
Still duty bound and soul unfettered
F.D.N.Y his back is lettered.
