***Author's Note: I had hoped for a 'Romance' category like on the story side...oh well. This started out as a love song I wrote for a friend but I liked it so much, I decided to post it as a poem. I know it's simple and cliched, but what the hey...I like it.***

I woke up this morning and realized
Just how lucky I was
I watched you sleep and what you do
to my heart, no one else does

I wrapped my arm around you
Holding you so tight
Just like I've held you
Each and every night

But holding you close is not the only way
That I can show you that I care
You are to me what no one else sees
You are the very air
That I breathe

Breakfast in bed, the newspaper read
Now up to face the day
I know your mine no matter the time
And I want it stay that way

But I have to tell you something
But it's something you'll want to hear
No matter the way of the coming day
I want to tell you I love you, dear

But telling you this is not the only way
That I can show you that I care
The stress of the day just melts away
When I know you're the air
That I breathe

The day comes to an end but I don't have to mend
My soul stays true to you
You're mine and that all I need to find
Because of everything you do

But showing you this is not the only way
That I can show you that I care
I know as we climb into bed, without you I'd be dead
Because you are the air
That I breathe.
