I've listened to him play
in rev'rence of those he admires
strumming their tunes, sounding their words
recreating their moment for them and for him
with an enthusiasm so intense
it amplifies the sound of the silent thoughts
floating in that space between us.
And the moment leaves me breathless.

I've watched him lose himself
in many a musical moment
as his fingers travel over the strings
to an unknown domain, exploring the terrain
with an undaunted enthusiasm
that colors the invisible thoughts
floating in that space between us.
And the moment leaves me breathless.

Whose the luckier one
in this wonderfully grand scheme of things--
him for posessing such a fabulous talen
or me for being deemed worthy of the share--
the two with a matched enthusiasm
that leaves that question unanswered
and floating in that space between us.
And that man and his guitar leave me breathless.
