It is dusk

The steadfast almond trees are barely visible
as the light of day slowly recedes
While their leaves wave gently in the cool breeze
A lazy river in the foreground
glimmers in the fading light

In the distance, the bells of a church tower
toll solemnly seven times
A pile of leaves, whipped up by the wind
flies around the churchyard in wild abandon
The blurs of red, yellow and orange
soon settle to the ground
as the last rays of the sun
illuminate the almond trees
Soon, only the very tips of the branches
are visible in the decaying light
Finally, even they are lost

Night has fallen

Twilight.

Twilight when shadows come stealing ~ the wind blowing through the leaves of Fall is a magic time of the day. The imagery in this rendering is so beautiful and appropriate.

The description is beautiful

but relies too much on the reader's own experience and not your metaphorical representation of the setting, IMHO. Were the leaves shimmering like foil in firelight? the river glimmering like facets on finely cut diamonds..? try to be more precise...the base is solid..
