THE ARCHER

Total concentration,
You’re zoned!
Vision intensification,
Focus honed!
Muscular contraction,
You’re toned!

Sighting down the string,
The flight tickles your nose.
The target is the thing,
Fingers retract and close.

The arrow is away,
Sun glinting off the shaft.
From its line it can’t stray,
You’re an artisan at your craft.

Straight through the heart,
Your lover is impaled.
Your skill has done its part,
Another relationship nailed.

The Archer stands down,
Bow is now eased.
Survey the carnage all around,
You really must be pleased.
