The Austrian welcomed me in around half past twelve.
I should’ve known better than to take candy from a Kraut.
Chocolate’s sweet, but bottoms out.
It was all, you have till 2.
Till then? I don’t care what we do.
the sideways glance missed its mark,
With me lunging for the corner
To hide behind a stout.

It could have been my play this time.
I could have called the shots.
At least raised the curtain
Or ordered the final drop.

Too bad. Sooo sad.
The understudy tried her best.
Yet some critics are too hard to impress.

I think he hyper-extended himself on the way
to this forum.
Can’t say for sure,
Maybe he just wasn’t notified
It was one of those affairs.
Where you’re expected to smile or at least put on airs.

Welcomed. And in again, at 2 past 2.
Why? I couldn’t say.
There seemed nothing else to do.
Girls, what to do?
What girl to do?
What’s a girl to do?
When the gentle man cooes
Just one more time?
And you notice he didn’t say
just one more you

III

Moral? Listen to your mother.
Don’t take candy from strangers.
And if you don’t recognize that stranger till 2 past 2,
Get your ass out of there as soon as you do.
