Unlike my gypsy forebearers
those made to wear the swatch
Never having faced the peril
or concentrations touch
Not worthy of the arayan blood
bereft of equal thought
Forced to labor in the camps
most dying just for naught
Loved ones all but torn apart
and never seen again
A history of people shunned
that none would help defend
Wanderers left without roots
and forced burdens to bear
Soon their bodies strength betrayed
then facing the furnace glare
The old, the sick, the children too
marched to feed the fire
Alas unto their final reward
Anonymous funeral pyre
Families still too hurt to speak
of historys dreadful dowry
Looked upon as tramps and thieves
A scourge upon humanity
