I listened
to the sound
of
the car
pull
up
on the gravel.

I knew he would be coming
in soon.

I found comfort
 in knowing
that
he would be home
and
hearing
the familiar sound
of his tires on the gravel,
the slam of the car door.

I could envision everything in my head.
I saw
and heard
him opening the screen door
and
placing his key
into the lock ...
and turning it.

"Hi honey,
I'm home!"
my heart
would cry out
as
he made
his way to the bed,
sitting
on the edge
with his hands
in his curly hair
pondering his day.

I loved him
and he
loved me back . . .
for the moment.

Just....

...to say I came, I saw, I voted.
