I see the children playing.
So innocent.
So naive.
So sad.
Or is it?
They completely block out the outside world.
In their minds, they are
adventurers
explorers
discoverers.
They are
pirates
gunfighters
soldiers
balerinas
mothers
and some are simply just children.
They can be anything they want.
They know nothing about
bills
money
power
politics
abortion
abuse
or housecleaning.
They don't know about world problems.
They don't show prejudice.
They show love freely.
They don't have acquaintances or associates,
only friends.
They can't understand why people don't get along.

Neither can I.

Perhaps ignorance IS bliss.
But one day, their playing will end.
One day, their laughter will stop.
One day, their innocence will end.
As we all become guilty of something.
