words tangle
because our ears are closed.
we speak to ourselves
when once we heard
the slightest whisper
and sigh of the other.
now all we hear
is our pain
and we say, "i'm sorry,"
as if we need nothing more.
i, too, think of you
and smell you
in the night when i awake.
cold and alone i touch myself
and see your hands and arms
and hardness.
i am wet,
but it is only
my tears.
