She must get this from her mother
that cute nose wrinkle, turning down
beef and vegetables.
This born again carnivore,
farmer's market hound,
has them always on his plate
and ate before the milk is gone.

But fool her and her mother too,
she has chocolate cake and mousse
for breakfast, cups full of
sneaky beets and zucchini.
The pudding topping is
protein powder in disguise.

Ick, right? I know, but I have to.

It's all brown, she doesn't care
because it's all colored chocolate.
That's what I tell her and she cleans
her dish better than soap and water.

wonderful!

to read here how you bind yourself to your child. One day, when you are holding her daughter , you might whisper a secret or two, or just let her read this poem. She will love you all the more!

I saw this.....

.....in the PFDF I think. The sentiment is well and lovingly stated, familiar to any parent trying to raise a healthy child. I'd tighten it up a tad but it's lovely. Five if I could.

Love!

You made this such a vivid sense-filled poem. Of course you can't show it to her until she is at least 20 or she'll hate you for the beets and protein powder (which, btw, is genius!). :D
