Her tears fall slowly
Weaving their way
Gently down her cheeks

They fall toward
Her lover’s lips
As he shares her pain

In placid embrace
They hold each other
They say nothing

But each one knows
That here in silence
More than skin is bared
More than life is shared
Something urgent breaks
Upon each in tandem

And now his eyes wet
His tears form and fall
In the flow of her hair

His lips tremble
His breath is uneven
He pulls her closer

And her lips
In quiet response
Interlock with his
